Karl has a brother, named Mark, who is about 10 years older than him, and could be described as a bit of a tearaway. He could also be described as bearing a remarkable resemblance to that lizard man in Babylon 5 but this would be cruel and inaccurate. Mark's most notable story is from when Mark was kicked out of the army for driving a tank down the high street to get a packet of fags. Karl regularly refers to him as "our kid".
