Neil is instated as the Co-Managing Director at Wernham Hogg following the merger of the Slough and Swindon branches. He is seen to be a popular man amongst colleagues due to his fashion sense and in-office French Cricket matches, although possesses a cool, clinical air of professionalism which doesn't sit well with [[David Brent]], who describes him as "gay" yet copies Neil's fashion choices, or the show's co-creator [[Ricky Gervais]], who claims Godwin is a character who should not be liked.
