Track Listing

1. Best Thing to Come out of Birmingham (00:00)

The complete link from Claire Sturgess's show with Ricky. He starts by making an announcement about an upcoming gig. Next, a debate about Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath starts after they try to decide what the best thing to come out of Birmingham is. The listeners are encouraged to share their ideas too.

2. Still Not Working (03:50)

More from Sturgess's show with Ricky. Sturgess loses her train of thought so Ricky and everyone else leave so that she can get back on form.

3. Led Zeppelin vs. Black Sabbath (06:01)

Sturgess got her train of thought back. Martin Clunes was supposed to be a guest but he cancelled. Listeners are faxing in their ideas for the best thing to come out of Birmingham. One suggested the Sneaker Pimps, but Sturgess thinks they pale in comparison to Black Sabbath. Ricky is the only one in the studio who thinks Led Zeppelin is better than Black Sabbath. He begs the listeners to vote for him.

4. Most Influential British Band (11:24)

Ricky continues to debate with everyone else about Zeppelin vs. Sabbath. He compares Sabbath to Marilyn Manson and Zeppelin to Radiohead. He asks the listeners again to fax in who is the most influential British band. Ricky has an idea; he thinks they should go get Ian Camfield to participate in the debate. Ricky brings him in and asks him which is better. Camfield sides with Ricky and picks Led Zeppelin.

5. Zeppelin Wins (15:29)

Ricky is still boasting in his victory. The listeners have responded as well, all but one of the listeners picked Led Zeppelin. The one dissenting vote wasn't for Black Sabbath, it was for Dave Keenan.

6. They Like Black Sabbath (16:39)

Sturgess announces that Ricky has stormed out, but he returns when he hears his name. Ricky congratulates Led Zeppelin for being the most influential British band and he thanks the listeners for siding with him.

7. Eucalyptus Robbery (18:06)

The complete link from another one of Ricky and Steve's shows where Ricky reads an animal fact about koala bears that he found on the internet. He says that the fingerprints of a koala bear are so similar to those of humans that they could be confused at the scene of a crime. Ricky then goes over a scenario on Quincy where this would occur.

8. Axial Face (21:26)

A partial link from Ricky and Steve's show where Steve tries to come up with a band name by pulling random words out of separate bags. Steve gives out an email address for the show; the drawback to email is that Ricky never reads it, he prefers letters. Steve then reads out a letter from a listener entitled, "Things I can do for you." The first one is to make him a hat. This leads to a conversation about berets.

9. I Don't Know Why They Called (25:25)

A set of links where Ricky and Steve try to give away some tickets to gigs at ULU. Ricky thinks of a competition where listeners phone up and then send him a CD. Steve doesn't understand the competition but for some reason, the phone lines are buzzing.

10. Two Idiots Talking Nonsense on the Radio (29:18)

Several partial links to end the tape including, Steve talking about a kid he saw on the tube wearing a deerstalker hat, Ricky hearing about a man who said he was a cow during the birth of Christ, and Ricky announcing an Xfm football match.

Quotes

Ricky: Yeah, but Led Zeppelin said, "BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I ROCK AND ROLLED!"

Ricky: The competition is this: someone phones up for no reason at all, don't give the reason away, send me a CD, is the winner.
Steve: It's the way you don't even use grammar… You just use words.
