Ricky, Steve and Karl have all referred to 24 as one of their favorite TV shows. On an Xfm radio show on 19 July 2003, Steve claims watching 24 is one of the reasons he purchased a ridiculously over sized flat screen TV. On 27 April 2002 Karl said he would have preferred to stay home with Suzanne watching 24 rather than go to the BAFTAs.
Ricky and Steve cameos
Ricky Gervais was rumoured to make an appearance in series six but the scene did not make it into the show. It was however released on the series six box-set as a bonus feature, it was more than likely never intended to be aired as it features, as well as Ricky's overly humorous performance (the show is almost entirely humour free), the President saying "fuck" and the network does not allow explicit swearing. Appearing alongside Gervais in the scene is his girlfriend of 25 years, Jane Fallon.
Stephen Merchant made a brief appearance in the first episode of series six in a non-speaking role. He played a CTU worker, but was uncredited on the episode.
