Ladder 49 was one of the competition prizes given away during the final 5 shows of Xfm Series 4 and it became a running joke throughout the series.
Ladder 49 is a 2004 film drama about firefighters directed by Jay Russell and starring Joaquin Phoenix and John Travolta. It was the first fictional firefighter film following the September 11 attacks and attempted to celebrate the firefighting profession.
