Claire Sturgess is an Xfm presenter, and was the usual stand-in for Karl when he was away either ill, pretending to be ill, or on one of his many holidays.
Ricky and Steve would make jokey references to her smack addiction and subsequent thieving habit. This is due to the fact that in 1991 when she was 16, her picture was printed in an article in The Daily Telegraph about teenage smack fiends. Apparently it was a mistake and the picture was from a dancing competition she'd won.
Despite not contributing much herself, Claire's presence during the Xfm years provided fans with a great alternative to the normally Karl-centric shows with these infrequent shows usually providing a "what-if" scenario ie, what if Ricky and Steve returned to Xfm but never met Karl.
