The film was originally titled ''The Man from the Pru'', a colloquial term (and later an advertising slogan) for agents of the Prudential insurance company. During the writing of the film, the Prudential allowed Ricky and Steve to use their archives for research, however, after reading the finished script, the company decided it was not pleased with how they were to be portrayed in the film and decided not to allow their name to be used. The new title comes from the name of a road junction in the East Reading district of the town of Reading in the English county of Berkshire where the film takes place and which is also home to the Prudential head office. <ref>[http://www.ftadviser.com/FTAdviser/Insurance/News/article/20090421/a90f22e8-2dca-11de-8da9-00144f2af8e8/Pru-blocks-Gervais-film-name.jsp Financial Times - Pru Blocks Gervais Film Name - 21st April 2009]</ref>
