Ashley Jensen

Ashley Jensen (born 1969) is a Scottish actress, born in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway. She is best known for her roles in Extras and Ugly Betty.

Television

Jensen stars alongside Ricky Gervais in the BBC Two/HBO television programme Extras. For her work on the first series, she received best television comedy actress and newcomer awards at the 2005 British Comedy Awards.

In January 2006 she starred in the short-lived drama series Eleventh Hour, alongside Patrick Stewart. Stewart had also appeared in an episode of Extras, in which he attempted to get Jensen's character Maggie to appear in his new pet project.

In September 2006 Jensen appeared as Christina in the ABC sitcom Ugly Betty. Christina not only works in the "closet" of New York fashion magazine Mode, but is also Betty's only true ally.

Jensen has also appeared as Fiona Morris in the BBC1 soap opera EastEnders.

Personal life

Jensen is engaged to actor Terry Beesley, 48, whom she has been with for six years. Ashley and Terry (who has appeared in Casualty) met in 1999 when they were both on stage in King Lear. The couple recently moved - with their dog, Barney - into a plush flat in Holland Park, West London. 1

Trivia

• In 2006, Jensen received two British Comedy Awards and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nomination for her role in Extras.
• Jensen is represented by Samuel L. Jackson's agent in Hollywood.
