Stephen Merchant played Bubba Sparxxx on 17 November 2001 show. Steve claimed he couldn't relate to the song in any way, as it was called 'Ugly'.
He decided not the play the single 'Ugly', but 'Dark Days, Bright Nights' instead. They thought that Stevie Wonder may be providing the chorus for the song, and asked the listeners the phone and e-mail in.
