EastEnders is a popular BBC television soap opera, first broadcast on 19 February 1985. It is one of the UK's highest-rated programmes, often appearing near or at the top of the week's Broadcaster's Audience Research Board (BARB) ratings.
Extras' star Shaun Williamson played Barry in EastEnders for ten years and his character in Extras is based on the premise that he's been a complete failure since leaving the soap.
Extras guest star Ross Kemp also appeared in the show for many years.
