lunacy
does anyone else feel ridiculous with this project? in the best possible way! it's all so bizarre and hysterical to listen to in the first place, but to actually type if out makes it seem that much more insane. i can only imagine the names ricky and steve would call us. lol i did mine in the quiet study area of my local library tonite and i had to cover my face, shaking with laughter, while I did it. - Yeah. I have to say I get frustrated when working on it, having to loop bits over. But when I'm done I really feel like I've digested the bit. You pick up on little idiosyncrasies that you don't notice before and realize how redundant their speech patterns are. Really see it on a whole new level. Plus I love typing out a classic link or a Monkey News and seeing it word for word. Strange project indeed. If we ever do get all the shows done (with more help hopefully, egad), e-mail Ricky and tell him we've got The World of Karl Pilkington 2: Encyclopedia Size Edition waiting.--Knockinabout 19:51, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- I transcribed a bit of 25 June 2005 and I found that it is really difficult to transcribe Ricky. Steve talks pretty quick, but he still is understandable. Karl talks slowly and is really easy to transcribe. But Ricky... Ricky is another beast altogether. He speaks in broken English, mumbles, or just doesn't use real words. It is truly amazing. I'm going to transcribe my favorite show of all-time, 20 April 2002. I just listened to it recently and Ricky isn't so bad in that one. --Squeek 02:30, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
Looking good, i'll finish off mine tonight and put that up - done. --Bender32 13:47, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
Preformatting Recommendations
- Use RG:, SM:, KP: for dialouge.
- Use "and" for combination dialogue (RG and SM:).
- If prominent laughing occurs, put it on a new line that says "name laughs" --(Ricky laughs). Avoid using "(laughs)" in the middle of dialogue.
- For music breaks just make a new line, and put "song" or "song break". If the band/song is mentioned put some of that down. As long as we work with summarized episodes, all the songs are there so we don't need to figure that bit out and I'll format it to SqueekScript later.
- Try to put periods at the end of dialogue (unless its ? or ! obviously)
With these things it makes it easier for me to format into SqueekScript so we can have sweet colorized bars and all that jazz.
still needed as of May 2008
this needs to be completed and the final section formatted. anyone up for it? Steve is King 17:56, 2 May 2008 (BST)
The End
There is currently 12 minutes 6 seconds outstanding, consisting of Link 7 and the beginning of Link 8. If anyone wants to split it with me we can put this one to bed :P Justjoe4life 17:37, 12 June 2008 (BST)
- you tuck it in and i'll give it a little kiss on the cheek. i'll take 29:33 through as close to 35:00 as a sentence finishes. Steve is King 18:59, 12 June 2008 (BST)
- i need french help. when steve tells ricky the name of the street he grew up on, and he says imagine being in school and needing to say where you live, then something that sounds like "zhabeet". it's about 2/3 down the page if someone can fill that in. and if anyone needs spanish help, gimme a buzz. otherwise done SiK
J'habite a Gay's Road
