VT clock countdown was a woman who counted down at the start of every Meet Ricky Gervais show and was often frustrated by Ricky Gervais' attitude.

History

The first episode began with a VT clock voiceover announcing that the show was starting in 20 seconds. Ricky asked her why there wasn't any music, to which she replied he said he didn't want music. Ricky, agitated by the news, pointed out that he said he didn't want to pay for music and settled for doing it himself. While performing a theme tune with just his voice, the voiceover continued to count down over him. (1x01)

Later when Ricky asked if there was any music for the end credits of his show, she replied that there obviously wasn't. This lead to Ricky making an appeal for viewers to send in their own theme tune. (1x01)

For the second episode, it once again begun with the same VT clock voiceover announcing the show would be starting in 20 seconds. Ricky complained that there still was no music and resolved to do the theme tune himself again. However the countdown again interrupted his singing causing Ricky to tell her to "shut up". (1x02)

The next episode began with the same woman counting down from 10. Ricky greeted her with an "alright?" but she frustratedly replied she was busy. Ricky then told her that he just wanted to tell her that he's leaving Friday, when she asked who Ricky responded "Robinson Cruesoe!". She told Ricky to "fuck off" as the show began. (1x03)

When it came to counting down for the fourth show, Ricky was being unruly yelling "tits" over the countdown timer, to which the woman called him "pathetic". (1x04)

The following show she worried that the studio could not hear her because Ricky was not talking. When she inquired if the studio could hear her Ricky pointed out that she was "probably pissed again". Ricky lamented that he hoped someone from Sky is watching so he can get off the poxy bent channel. (1x05)

The final show began with Ricky once again complaining about the lack of title music. The voiceover woman points out that there was plenty of money to spend on music which Ricky points out he spent on "dwarves and midgets". Once again she told Ricky to "fuck off". (1x06)

• According to Ricky, she may have a problem with alcohol, but how deep her alcoholism runs is never revealed.
• Stirling Gallacher later portrayed Jennifer Taylor-Clarke in The Office and Ricky Gervais' love interest| in the sketch at the start of Animals.
