The Holy Trinity of Comedy is a shorthand way of referring to Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington, and was a term first coined by Merchant on the show dated 26 July 2003 which then became common phrasing used on the Forum, where it is shortened further to "HTC".
