The Farmer Wants A Wife
The Farmer Wants A Wife is a television programme mentioned in the 01 December 2001 show, when Steve Merchant toys with the idea to use the format and revamp it to Steve Merchant wants a Wife.
The show tracks the lives and loves of a group of single farmers looking to meet their perfect partner, while giving viewers a real insight into their scenic but relatively solitary lifestyle. A number of farmers are initially introduced to viewers in a special episode after the screening of which women are encouraged to write in to 'pitch' their favourite.
The farmers with the most letters are "in" and get the chance to chose 10 women they'd most like to meet in a speed dating scenario where they can spend no longer than 20 minutes with each. After speed-dating the 10 become five who get to go on a date with the farmer, after which five become two. The remaining two women are then invited to spend a week on the farm - at the same time! The scene is set for rivalry and tensions between the two women while they must also get to grips with the life and duties of a farmer's wife. The Farmer Wants A Wife is a feel good romantic series with a sense of humour.
No sheep were harmed during the production of the show.
