Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling plays Kelly Kapoor, a chatty and often ditzy customer service representative on The Office.
Background
Kaling grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts (quite close to where John Krasinski and B.J. Novak grew up). She attended Dartmouth College, where she did improv, sang a capella, and created a comic strip.
Career
In 2003, Kaling co-wrote and co-starred in the hit off-Broadway play "Matt & Ben", which won the New York International Fringe Festival's Best Play prize and went on to be a featured selection at the 2003 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. The play was on Rolling Stones Hot List and was listed as one of Time Magazines top ten theatrical events of 2003. Kaling was the object of Larry David's unwanted affections in Curb Your Enthusiasm, and has had small roles in the films The 40 Year Old Virgin, and License to Wed, both also starring other members of The Office.
Her Role in The Office
In addition to starring in it, Kaling is also a writer/producer on the show and has written several episodes, including "Hot Girl," "The Dundies," "Take Your Daughter to Work Day", "The Injury", "Diwali", and "Ben Franklin".
