You Never See An Old Man Eating A Twix is a theory from Karl Pilkington. Karl claims that elderly people do not eat the chocolate bar 'Twix'.

Origin

Karl, Ricky and Steve were involved in a discussion about 'things you don't see' during an Xfm radio show on 09 November 2002, when Karl claimed that elderly people don't eat Twix chocolate bars. Karl claims that if you do see an old person eating a Twix it would "look weird". Karl claims that in place of Twix bars old people eat the hard candy 'Werther's Original." Karl also brings up this theory in "Meet Karl Pilkington," one of the special features for the DVD of Politics.

Songs Of Phrase

For the 22 March 2003 show, Karl uses the theory for his Songs Of Phrase quiz. However, much to the annoyance of Ricky (who didn't care for the quiz in the first place), Karl was unable to find a song with the word Twix, but decided to continue and simply substitute the word. Karl used the word 'Mars' (from David Bowie's "Life On Mars") in place of Twix, referring to the 'Mars' chocolate bar. Ricky insisted the feature be abandoned due to Karl's poor preparation; "We're not doing it! He's got to do it right! It's too many, we said it was too many! He's changed the thing, it's not a well-known phrase! It's ridiculous!"

Response

As with most (if not all of) Karl's theories, Ricky and Steve dismiss this claim. However, originally in the 20 November 2003 show Ricky says that the truly annoying thing about Karl's theory is that "he's actually right, you don't see an old fella eating a Twix"
