He grew up in Tennessee and attended a local arts school and then graduated from the Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He plugged away in the world of theatre in the 1970s and 1980s before eventually appearing in minor films in the late 80s. He would achieve his big break and forthcoming global fame in the 1990s, continuing into the 2000s. Jackson has a wife, Latanya, and a daughter, Zoe. He lives in L.A and is a keen follower of golf, basketball and football, supporting Liverpool F.C.
